School Budget
The Battle Creek Public School district is facing a 3-point-6 million dollar budget shortfall. One remedy being considered is merging two alternative high schools. Combining South Hill Academy and Operation GRAD would save the district an estimated 470-thousand dollars a year in operating costs. The idea has been under consideration for some time and would likely result in some layoffs. The school board is reportedly looking into the option.
