Michigan's Uninsured
An advocacy group's latest report says nearly 2.5 million Michigan residents under age 65 were without health insurance at some point over the past two years. That represents about 28.8 percent of the state's population under age 65, an organization called Families USA says. The report says 1.7 million Michigan residents were uninsured for six months or more during 2007 and 2008. Michigan's uninsured rate was a little better than the national average of 33.1 percent.
