Battle Creek "Tea Party"

A protest Tea Party in downtown Battle Creek drew large crowds Saturday morning. An estimated 800 people showed up at Friendship Park for WBCK’s “Tax Tea Party.” Participants with protest signs listened to featured speakers and signed petitions. Nearly half a million protesters attended tea parties in hundreds of cities across the U.S. Wednesday to send a message to elected officials. At Friendship Park, around 500 people signed a petition voicing displeasure with government policy. The keynote speaker was Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox.

I was not actually at the event, but heard the enthusiastic crowd and music from across the street. I think this was a good idea, and hope that this is not the last such "Tea Party" in Battle Creek!

I was at the Battle Creek Tea Party and estimated between 1,000 and 1,200 enthusiastic concerned Americans participated. Renk did a great job MC'ing and every guest speaker hit the nail on the head. We need to keep the ball rolling with a 4th of July celebration of We The People ... who still believe in the Constitution. Great job everyone!!

I was at the Battle Creek Tea Party, as well. I love my country and do not want us to continue on the path we are currently on. There were many enthusiastic people that attended the event on Saturday. I can only hope that we can "change" things properly so we do not lose our liberties. The stimulus and budget include many little things that are going to surprise us as they are revealed. God bless us all!
