Fatal Crash

A Burlington woman is dead, her husband is hospitalized and another man is jailed after a suspected drunk driving crash Wednesday at 11Mile Road near V Drive South. Police say a 33-year old man ran a stop sign and broadsided another car being driven by 82-year old Dale Bender. He was seriously injured. His wife, Doris Bender was killed. The other driver tried to flee on foot but was quickly caught and arrested. He’ll be charged with Driving While Impaired, Causing Death. His name was not released. Police also want to question a woman driving a white van who stopped to help before police arrived.
