Aero Med Flying
Spectrum Health's Aero Med helicopter ambulance program has resumed service following last month's crash on the roof of a downtown Grand Rapids hospital. Flights will go in and out of Gerald Ford International Airport, and patients will be transferred by ambulance to the hospital. The airport will be used until the heliport atop Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital is repaired. An Aero Med helicopter carrying a pilot and a Federal Aviation Administration inspector crashed May 29th after the tail rotor struck a tower while taking off from the heliport. Both occupants survived.
