Young Mother Accused

A Kalamazoo woman is in jail…accused of severely injuring her 11-month old daughter. 18-year old Shakela Butler is charged with First Degree Child Abuse. The baby was admitted to the hospital and placed in intensive care a week ago. She has skull fractures and bleeding on the brain, but doctors say she’s in fair condition. The injuries are consistent with shaken baby syndrome and being repeatedly struck. Butler is being held on 100-thousand dollars bond.
