No Clergy Allowed

Livingston County Jail inmates who want to meet one-on-one with clergy don't have a prayer -- at least for now. Undersheriff Michael Murphy says the visits were halted in March. He acknowledges the decision was made without notifying area clergy, but jail officials were concerned about security at a facility where only six deputies and an administrator watch up to 280 inmates each day. Murphy says officials did notify Jim Proos, whose Forgotten Man Ministries still conducts Bible studies and nondenominational services at the jail. One-on-one visits may be allowed on Fridays, which tend to be less busy than other days.
