CAFO Fight
Some St. Joseph County residents are still fighting a proposed CAFO, or concentrated animal feeding operation in Leonidas Township. The Department of Environmental Quality has already approved the CAFO, where up to 23-hundred cows could be located. But area residents are concerned about the environmental impact and possible decreasing property values. The group has until the middle of next month to convince the state to rescind the permit issued by the D-E-Q.
