Woman Sentenced

A Kalamazoo woman who admitted causing her two-month old daughter’s death will spend at least the next 18-years in prison. Amber McIntyre-Roden took her baby, Tamiah to the hospital in July. The infant died eight days later. Doctors determined the baby was suffering from shaken-baby syndrome and died of blunt-force trauma. McIntyre-Roden pled guilty to Second Degree Murder. She was sentenced Monday to 18 to 50 years in prison.

What does blunt force trauma have to do with Shaken Baby Syndrome? Blunt force trauma is when the child is hit or slammed against something. It has nothing to do with shaking. I guess every child that is abused under the age of 5 is "shaken."
