Woman Re-sentenced
A Battle Creek woman convicted of conspiring to have her ex-boyfriend murdered has been re-sentenced to life in prison. Lynette Pontius was convicted last October of Attempted Murder, Conspiracy and weapons violations. The 28-year old was originally sentenced to 50 to 75 years, but her sentence was changed because state law requires a life sentence for those charges. Prosecutors say Pontius hired Joseph Laverne to kill Martin Campbell over a custody dispute. Laverne got life in prison for beating and shooting Campbell, who survived and has recovered.

Lynette....had you read Proverbs chapters 5, 6, & 7 coupled with making WISDOM your sister (Proverbs chapter one), you could have avoided the tricks/wiles of the devil (Ephensians chapter 6 verses 10-17). The 15 minutes to read this message from God's holy word verses the LWOP sentence in prison would have been worth the time. As the cliche goes Lynette, "Man-up" and quit the denials. Remember, you must stand before God one day and there is no saving beyond the grave. May God bless both of your families.
Re-sentencing seems unfair.her original sentence was fair. That being said the show Snapped has been on for to many years! Its insane to me how many wome.are so stupid as to kill (or try to kill)the father's of their kids!Maybe wait until you actually know a man before laying down with him..or if you have chosen to sleep with him...IT'S HIS KID ALSO AND WOMEN HAVE NO RIGHT TO KEEP A CHILD FROM THEIR DAD! Barring me a crack head..you simply can't do tgat! You wouldn't want to be kept from your child! And you in prison isn't gonna help you at all to raise your child idiot! Wow it's just insane to me!! Your not aloud to keep love away from a child due to your misplaced hatered for the Dad!
There is people that actually kill people and get 15 to 25 years this lady didn't even kill him and got life really!! Did shd get a shit lawyer!! Or was this a bullshit court!!

Totally agree. Life sentence is justice.Shes been in and out of jail her whole life.She will never learn.Look at her family too.Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.What if she succeeded? Would anyone sympathize? People like her deserve life.Kudos to our court system and judge & jury.
I have known Lynette since I was 12 and she was 10. I haven't seen her since we were teenagers. We were both born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan and I used to play at her house on Meachem Ave back in 1990. I would have been 13. I never thought she would have tried to kill someone.
Moved to Phoenix, Arizona in my 20's & lost contact with a lot of friends in Battle Creek. I still live here in Arizona.
