Riot Sentencing
A Michigan State University student has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for throwing an empty beer bottle during a fracas in April. 18-year-old Shane Patrick Rauss of Wixom is the first to be sentenced in connection with the Cedar Fest disturbance. Rauss pled guilty to disorderly conduct. Police say a 4,000-student party turned violent during the early morning of April 6th. Officers were pelted with bottles, cans and bricks near the Michigan State campus. Rauss also received one year of probation and must pay almost $2,000 in fines. He has been suspended from Michigan State and can't take classes at any public university in the state for one year.
