Second Suspect Surrenders

A second man wanted in the beating of an 83-year-old World War II veteran has been arraigned on torture, armed robbery and other charges. Thirty-two-year-old Noah Richard Lovell III surrendered to state police in Brighton. The Grand Rapids man also is charged with unlawful imprisonment and home invasion in the October attack on John Pickett in his Livingston County home. Harry Riley is expected to be returned to Michigan to face similar charges. The 37-year-old drifter was arrested last week near Lincoln, Neb. Pickett was duct-taped, kicked, beaten and robbed of $70.
