Man Arrested in Marshall Motel Deaths

Police have arrested a Fort Wayne man in the deaths of his 72-year-old mother and 3-year-old daughter. Acting police Chief Scott McDonald says the 40-year-old man was arrested Sunday upon his release from Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall. All three were found Friday night at a motel in Marshall. The victims' names were not immediately released and the suspect's name was withheld pending arraignment Monday. McDonald told the Battle Creek Enquirer that police were able to track the suspect's cell phone to Marshall after he apparently made calls or sent text messages to relatives in Fort Wayne threatening to kill others and himself. McDonald says he is awaiting results from autopsies conducted Saturday.
