Apartment Fire

Investigators say a fire in the 100 block of Riverside that badly damaged a Battle Creek apartment Monday morning was accidental. The resident heard a smoke alarm as he arrived home just before 3:30 and saw smoke when he opened his door. Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the one apartment. Damage is estimated at 35-thousand dollars. An apartment on the lower level was damaged by water. There were no injuries.
